APPLICATION TYPE

Choose by where you are now

Outside Japan: the accepting organization or representative normally applies for a Certificate of Eligibility before the visa application.
In Japan under another status: apply for change of status before starting the HSP activity.
Already HSP: apply for extension before expiry; a material activity or organization change may require separate review.

CORE EVIDENCE

Prepare a verifiable chain

Correct 1号イ・ロ・ハ point table and enough prescribed evidence to establish at least 70 points.
Documents proving the proposed activity, organization, position, duties and expected annual remuneration.
Application form, photograph, passport and residence card as required by the selected procedure.
Attach Japanese translations to foreign-language documents; Japanese-issued certificates are generally expected to be recent.

Special Highly Skilled Professional — no point calculation

Academic / technical: master’s degree or higher plus ¥20,000,000 expected annual remuneration, or 10+ years’ relevant experience plus ¥20,000,000.

Business management: 5+ years’ management experience plus ¥40,000,000 expected annual remuneration.
