Macinity 3.1 · User guide

Start with an observation.

Check coverage and timestamps before acting.

Install or upgrade

Download the matching DMG and SHA-256 file. Verify with shasum -a 256 -c Macinity-3.1.0.dmg.sha256. Read the included first-launch guide and move Macinity.app to Applications. Your existing data folder and bundle identity stay compatible.

Monitor performance and hardware

Open Overview, Processes, CPU & Memory, Disk / Network or Hardware Inspector. Live requires an active main window unless optional menu-bar monitoring is enabled. Missing or paused samples remain gaps. Hardware readings vary by model.

Inspect Wi-Fi and LAN

Open Wi-Fi & LAN, select a tool and refresh. Inspect addresses, gateway, global DNS, carrier and Wi-Fi signal/channel/link rate. Nearby Wi-Fi scans run by button. Location may be needed for network identities; no passwords are read.

Measure a connection

Choose Connection Diagnostics or Latency & Stability. Enter one hostname or IP, without URL, port or credentials, then start. View independent DNS/TCP/gateway outcomes or 20-probe ICMP loss and jitter. Stop cancels your pending operation.

Build history and a baseline

Enable optional local health history. After 30–60 real observations, capture a baseline; comparisons need ten newer valid observations per metric. Choose a 15/30/60-minute sensor session and Start. Stop preserves it; Quit discards it. Preview JSON/CSV before saving.

Review storage actions

Select roots and scan Storage, Projects or Applications. Receipts and leftovers are evidence, not deletion permission. Eligible moves use Trash and recovery checks. Developer cleanup commands can be irreversible and outside Trash: review the exact command before confirming.

Unnotarized release

Ad-hoc signed, not Apple-notarized. Open Anyway may be required.
